Coaching and Training

It’s all about the people, the process and showing the proof (PPP)

Gary Clabaugh

Training and coaching plans can be created with the client based on the needs and future direction of the organization. Metric based plans are created using the skills matrix to measure progress to the plan.

The following training plans are available:

Example: leader standard work, leadership and management training, eight wastes training, process mapping, 5 why problem solving, 8-D problem solving, 6M problem solving (fishbone), and brainstorming. Typical Process: (1) meeting with client (2) Assessment with candidate (3) Classroom training with candidate (4) four weekly check-ins/coaching with candidate (5) Review with candidate and client.

Leadership Model

Example: Project Manage Institute (PMI) processes, New product/project Introduction (NPI), Project charter, Voice of the customer (VOC), document review, requirements table & checklist, risk analysis, risk register, stakeholder analysis, responsibility-accountability-communicate-informing (RACI chart), lessons learned, issue log, action plan, etc.

Example: Leadership standard work, Job relations, situational leadership, TWI Job instructions (trainer), leadership grid, team building, change management, ladder of accountability, icerberg of ignorance, facilitator training, etc.

Example: PDCA, risk analysis, process mapping, observations, kaizen leadership, 5S, standard work, effort-impact analysis, spaghetti chart, mistake proofing, brainstorming, affinity analysis, pairwise analysis, gemba walks, total productive maintenance, etc.

Example: 5 whys, 8D, risk analysis, process mapping, DMAIC, DOE, fishbone, 6M, pareto chart, SIPOC, affinity analysis, etc.

Skills Metric Example. The employee is trained by the traditional method of instruction by being presented the material by a teacher or from online training. The real learning occurs when the student actually uses the tools supplemented with coaching. You know the quote “If you don’t use it you’ll lose it.”
