I can help your team solve problems or represent you at your customer or suppliers location. It’s challenging to improve when problems are consuming your resources and attention. I can offer four levels of problem solving depending on the complexity of the problem. I have training material and can coach your employees to improve their critical thinking skills and enable them to start practicing important skills using the tools while they’re solving your problems.
Level 1: 5 why analysis for individuals or small teams. Can be used for low complex problems.
A process where you ask “why” several times until the root cuase has been identified. Question & answer chain of continuous logic. Each question should focus the investigation from the previous answer. This is a relatively simple process and can be easily taught and coached.
Level 2: 8D 8 Disciplines consist of 8 steps:
•D1 – Team Formation •D2 – Problem Statement/Description •D3 – Containment Actions •D4 – Define and Verify Root Cause •D5 – Choose and Verify Permanent Corrective Actions •D6 – Implement and Validate Permanent Corrective Actions •D7 – Preventive Actions •D8 – Recognize Team
Level 3: A3 PDCA template. Can be used for complex divergent problems.
The A3 tool can be used to manage the RCCA. It’s an 11″x17″ excel file that helps take the team work through the PDCA or DAMIC process. It’s a great communication and coaching tool since the story is all on one sheet. Can be simplified and used at all levels in the organziation as part of a standard RCCA process.
Level 4: Kaizen/improvement process (ref kaizen page) Should be used for complex divergent problems.
